Evening of Stars Gala 2017 Honorees

The 2017 Ambassador of Education Honorees are:

 

Angela Hart deHoyos Angela De Hoyos Hart – General MotorsIn 2015, Hart worked to bring General Motors employees to River Oaks Elementary to act as mentors. More than 40 mentors visited the school weekly to work on STEM lessons and tutoring. In addition, GM’s team helped the campus with a beautification effort and a literacy event. Hart also played a role in the first Coding as a Second Language session at Connally High School.
Jessica Kennedy Jessica Kennedy – Pflugerville ElementaryKennedy is in her 10th year as a full-time teacher at Pflugerville Elementary, currently teaching second grade. She volunteers time to help needy students through the district BackPack Pfriends program, is the co-leader for UIL academics at her campus, and coaches the second- and third-grade storytelling team. In addition, Kennedy led a student effort to purchase a “Buddy Bench” for the school, and has been involved in the PES Campus Academic Advisory Council and the District Academic Advisory Council.
Pat McCord Pat McCord – Pat McCord PhotographyFor more than 15 years, McCord has lent his time and expertise in photography to PfISD, capturing moments precious to students, parents, and staff, including dance groups, sports teams, and graduations. He’s provided photographs free of charge to those attending PEF galas and other events – for 10 consecutive years – and served as a charter member of the Education Foundation.
Jeff Monzingo Jeff Monzingo – Jeff Monzingo, CPAA Pflugerville High School alumnus, Monzingo has provided services to the Pflugerville Education Foundation and other PfISD organizations for many years. A certified public accountant and charter member of the Foundation, he helped set up the financial policies and submitted the documents that led to our 501(c)(3) status. He also maintained the financial books and performed our audits for the first 10 years. In addition, he has given back to PfISD organizations through his own nonprofit.
Katie Richardson Katie Richardson – PfISD AlumnaA 2009 Pflugerville High School graduate, Richardson received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology/biochemistry at Texas State University in 2013, and is pursuing studies in the dental field at the Houston Dental School. She has accumulated hundreds of hours of volunteer work through dental programs and mission trips, and holds leadership positions in dental associations such as the American Student Dental Association. She hopes to open a practice in restorative dentistry and continue to help those in need through programs such as Give Kids a Smile.
